Apocalypse Later Press

I've been reviewing films at Apocalypse Later since 2007 and elsewhere before that but, somewhere around March 2010, I felt that I had hit my stride. I was also writing for other people at this point, especially at Cinema Head Cheese where I was slating the 'worst movies of all time'. The combination of real satisfaction in my work and a substantial themed project led to me putting together some actual books.

I published my first two in May 2013 under the Apocalypse Later Press imprint with commissioned covers from Arizona artists. They've done well on a small scale and soon found their way into profit. However I now realise from experience what I'd already gathered from observation, namely that writing is not an easy thing to do for a living. I still have a day job to pay the bills and write in my spare time because it's who I am.

Cover Art

While I'm happy to write and publish my work, I know my limitations and one of them is cover art. I can't draw my way out of a paper bag, so I choose to commission quality covers from quality Arizona artists for each book, using different styles to fit different needs.

Making money as an artist is just as hard as making money as a writer so, if you like their work, please support them in whatever way works for you: buy their comics or prints or even commission your own original work from them.

Creative Commons

My books are licensed through Creative Commons, using the CC BY-NC-SA 3.0 copyleft license (an alternative to copyright). This means that anyone is legally allowed to copy and distribute them, as long as they:

  1. clearly identify that the work is mine (BY)
  2. do so on a non-commercial basis (ie they don't make money) (NC)
  3. do not change the terms of this license (SA)

So please download my books for free and share them so that they can reach as wide an audience as possible. Piracy is not the enemy; obscurity is the enemy.

Buy My Books

Of course, I don't get paid anything from a free download so, if you enjoy the book, please consider buying a print copy to show your appreciation and help me pay my bills.

If you don't have room for dead tree products, then please consider buying a print copy for a friend at Amazon or other online vendor. Alternatively, donate one to a library instead. Either way, I get paid and someone gets to read a good book.

Signed copies are available from the Dog Eared Pages used bookstore in Phoenix.

Review My Books

Even if you only read the free PDFs of my books, please consider writing reviews of them at amazon.com. Reviews are like gold at Amazon, who will promote books which have obtained enough of them. Getting fifty reviews at Amazon would be like a Christmas present to me.

Of course, the same goes for other independent authors too. If you review their books at Amazon as well as mine, you can help to make it Christmas every month in indie world and we'll love you all the more!
